Route du Ryz, 74390 Châtel
Throughout the walk, you will discover some beautiful examples of local architecture in which the famous Abondance cheese is still made in the traditional way.
The hike of the Mouet loop from Châtel is a hike without difficulty that will make you discover the heights of the village of Châtel.

Between streams, meadow, and cottage, you will have the opportunity to explore the village’s natural and built heritage.

You can, if you wish, shorten the hike once you arrive at the directional post of «Barbossine Dessous» by taking on the left at the crow’s foot.

From the Petit-Châtel, take the direction of the Saix Pass. The Ryz road, on a tarred road, starts at the big hairpin turn, crosses a stream, and diagonally crosses a large meadow.

Continue on the trail by a steep but brief climb, next to several farms. He turns left on the flat to reach the chalets of Flammet. Here we reach a transverse track that, to the left, leads you to the Col du Saix.

From the Col du Saix, continue to the first chalet in Douert. Leave this trail to take the path starting on the right in the direction of Mouet.

Return to Barbossine Dessous, intermediate station with 2 chairlifts. Continue the descent on the Petit-Châtel, first taking the road, then oblique to the right on a small path joining your starting point.
.
