The Pass’Portes du Soleil MTB is a mountain bike tour between France and Switzerland where participants can choose their departure date and place and where refreshments are unequalled.

Practical info MTB Pass'Portes

The tour takes place on a single day, with participants choosing to ride on Friday, Saturday or Sunday.

The loop is around 80km long, with a downhill profile, around 6000m of D- and 1000m of D+.

The Pass’Portes du Soleil MTB is the ultimate mountain bike ride for which the event is famous.

What you need to know before registering

  • Regulations

    The 2025 Pass’Portes du Soleil MTB & Kids regulations: download.

    IMPORTANT: Participants must obey the Highway Code on all stretches open to traffic.

  • Authorisation to leave the country

    Authorization to leave the country (AST), required for passage from France to Switzerland.
    Information and form to download at: www.service-public.fr/particuliers/vosdroits/F1359, complete and put in your child’s bag. As of January 15, 2017, a minor child living in France who travels abroad alone or unaccompanied by one of his or her parents must have an authorization to leave the territory (AST). This is a form drawn up and signed by a parent (or legal guardian). The form must be accompanied by a photocopy of the signing parent’s identity document.

    • A personal frame plate in a different color each day, which must be affixed to the participant’s bike.
    • fasteners for the plate
    • a hands-free card for use at the lift terminals
    • a road book of the route, downloadable from the Pass’Portes website
    • a lift pass valid for one day in the Portes du Soleil area, to be used in summer 2025 from the Monday after your participation, or in winter 2025-2026
    • a wristband to be worn at all refreshment points on the tour, and participant insurance valid on the day of registration
    • an exclusive “Pass’Portes” gift.
  • Required equipment
    • It is compulsory to wear a rigid helmet in good condition with chin strap fastened, and gloves suitable for mountain biking. Participants who fail to do so may be barred from taking part.
    • Protective gear (such as elbow pads, knee pads and back protectors) is strongly recommended by the organization.
    • For children’s tours, mandatory protection: helmet (full-face strongly recommended), preferably long gloves, back protector and knee pads.
    • Bike recommended by the organization: Moutain Bike enduro full suspension (approx. 140-160mm travel). Bikes must be in good working order. The bike must comply with current legislation, as laid down by the French Cycling Federation and the Swiss Cycling Federation.
    • We recommend you carry a cell phone, which will work on the route between France and Switzerland.
    • Bring warm clothing and rain gear, as mountain weather can be very changeable.

    14 to 75 years inclusive
